The city you already live in, found.
Our mission is to help Vancouverites discover and support the independent businesses that give every neighborhood its character.
Our mission
Vancouver is filled with independent businesses — bakeries where the owner knows your name, bookshops with carefully curated shelves, cafes where the barista remembers your order. In a world of chains and algorithms, these places can be hard to find.
ScoutLocal exists to change that. We're building the bridge between Vancouver's neighborhoods and the people who love them. Every offer redeemed, every review written, every new business discovered is a vote for a more vibrant, more local city.
Our story
ScoutLocal was born on a walk down Commercial Drive. We passed a small Ethiopian restaurant we'd never noticed, tucked between a record shop and a thrift store. It had been there for fifteen years. That moment crystallized something: the best parts of this city are hiding in plain sight, and they deserve to be found.
We built ScoutLocal to make discovery intentional — not algorithmic, not gamified, not driven by ad spend. Just neighbors helping neighbors find the good stuff.
Our team
We're a small team of Vancouverites who care about local economies, good design, and technology that serves communities. Based in Mount Pleasant, we work closely with BIAs across the city so every neighborhood is represented.
